When I discovered I had the trait of high sensitivity, I realised that I had gifts as an HSP that I had taken for granted.
I didn’t always see them as gifts however.
So in this post, I would love to share some of these gifts with you in hopes to inspire you to embrace your HSP trait. I will also share a couple of tips on how you can use them to your advantage.
I also love calling our gifts ‘superpowers’ because, when you really think about it, that’s what they are!
Unfortunately, we often don’t acknowledge our superpowers. Many of us grow up thinking there’s something wrong with us. That we’re different. We don’t fit in.
It can be lonely as an HSP if we don’t understand ourselves and if others don’t understand us either.
We often believe everyone sees the world as we do but that’s not the case. We are the 30% as opposed to the 70% of non-HSPs in this world.
Some of my favourite superpowers include:
- Empathy
- Intuition
- Resiliency
- More in tune with others
- Creativity
- Ability to make people feel comfortable
- Noticing and appreciating the beauty of the world around us
Use Your HSP Gifts To Your Advantage
Once you understand your superpowers, you can use them to your advantage.
As an example, let’s take intuition.
So many of us have intuition but we dismiss it because we don’t trust it.
There are a lot of exercises, tools and processes to help you to both trust your intuition as well as to enhance it.
This includes mindfulness exercises, meditation, journaling, breath work, hypnosis, grounding, just to name a few.
Once you learn to trust in your intuition, you can use it in so many areas of your life and your business.
Trusting your intuition helps you to make decisions. It helps you to define your vision. You can sense when something or someone should be avoided.
On the flip side, there are many things that can block your intuition. Such as low self-esteem, feeling ungrounded, unprocessed emotions and much more.
I was on a coaching call recently with a client. Fiona was sharing how she had just signed up another coaching client.
She was beaming from ear to ear and was so excited and happy.
I had to fight back the tears of joy that I felt for her.
We’ve been working together for almost six months now and when Fiona first came to me, she was in a pretty low place.
She had very little confidence and although she was a great coach, she was very hesitant to put herself out there. Fiona lacked self-trust and self-belief and was ready to give up and go back to her corporate job.
Not long after I discovered the HSP trait last year, I brought it up in one of our earlier sessions.
I knew Fiona was also an HSP and when I shared this with her, the lightbulb went off. She felt like she’d come home and so much in her life has shifted since then.
We did a lot of mindset work using RTT, hypnosis and some of the tools and processes mentioned earlier.
We’ve done lots of coaching around her strategy.
Together we’ve put systems in place for both her life and her business. I helped Fiona design a marketing system to suit her and that enhanced her strengths and superpowers as an HSP (and introvert).
Less than six month later, not only is Fiona thriving herself, she’s helping many others thrive as well through her coaching.
I love the ripple effect that my discovery of this wonderful trait of HSP has led to.
