This post discusses some inherent characteristics we are fortunate to have as entrepreneurial HSPs, empaths and introverts. By acknowledging these gifts, we can embrace them even more and use them to our advantage.
What are the entrepreneurial characteristics for HSPs, Introverts and empaths?
I believe as a highly sensitive person, introvert and empath, we already have many innate entrepreneurial characteristics.
By nature we are very curious and we love to learn new things. Entrepreneurship is synonymous with growth and development which is something that comes naturally to us due to our ever curious nature.
As sensitives, empaths and introverts, we think deeply. We have the ability to process information on a deep level which means we prefer to reflect before acting and speaking. As a leader this is important as it gives others a chance to share their views without us always taking charge or taking the limelight.
In her insightful book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking, Susan Cain puts this beautifully. “We have two ears and one mouth and we should use them proportionally.”
Processing information deeply, also enables us to see things from different angles and can help to ensure our business is in alignment with our values.
We have a very rich inner world. And because we tend to experience the world differently than those less sensitive, we have an incredible ability to make sense of any chaos within us or around us through our own creative expression.
Our creativity is a huge advantage in business as an entrepreneur because we often get sparks of aha moments and come up with inspiring ideas for our products and services.
Being conscientious is another one of our entrepreneurial characteristics. Not only do we give our tasks our best effort, we treat others with respect and compassion.
We are very much big picture thinkers which naturally, is a must have characteristic for any CEO or business owner.
Being perceptive and insightful we notice things that non-HSPs easily miss. Yet another invaluable entrepreneurial characteristic and leadership ability.
Our intuition is possibly one of our most powerful entrepreneurial characteristics.
We know things, feel things and act on things that will benefit us and our business. Our intuition helps us to understand the people we deal with and along with our compassion, as mentioned earlier, makes us great leaders.
We don’t need giant personalities to transform companies. We need leaders who build not their own egos but the institutions they run.

Many of us become entrepreneurs because we don’t like working for other people. The confines of a 9-5 can throw us off balance. When we run our own entrepreneurial ventures, we make the rules, we set the hours we work.
Final Thoughts
I was inspired to write this post today as I sometimes read or hear negative comments around the words ‘sensitive’ or ‘introvert’.
To me being sensitive and introverted comes with so many gifts and it’s my mission to educate and empower those who don’t yet use these gifts to their advantage and embrace them. Not just in their entrepreneurial pursuits but in their lives in general.
We are so fortunate to feel deeply about the world around us and appreciate the beauty of things. Coming from a mindset of gratitude is always what I choose to focus on and all the goodness that we have within us already.
